Kindness

Today, if something or someone causes you to react, focus your attention on your heart. Notice as your heart rate escalates.  Maybe even put your hand over your heart and connect with it there.  Send kindness and comfort to your heart.  Breathe into your lungs and imagine the air infusing love and compassion into your heart.  What triggers us or activates us today is typically something that reminds us of a deep pain we experienced long ago.  By connecting with your heart, you can comfort that younger you and reassure them in the moment.  While it may have been helpful to react or respond in this way in the past, it no longer serves us.  By sending love and kindness to your heart, you are in a sense, sending love and kindness to that younger you.
